1.  VASRA Regatta Jobs
2.  Polar Bear Regatta - Saturday 26 March.  Go to the website for detailed regatta information - http://www.wtwcrew.org/home/regatta-information
  • Athlete Show Times:  Coaches advise athletes on show times.  Athletes may be dropped off at the Van Thompson Lot before you get to the park entrance.  Athletes are then shuttled to the top of Boathouse hill.  Allow plenty of time, minimum 1/2 hour, prior to show time for athlete to get to the boathouse from drop off.
  • Water - Water is not turned on at the river.  Athletes need to bring full water bottle and extra water!
  • Race Times:  Heat Sheet Link
    • Friday afternoon/evening, go to http://vasra.org, and link to Polar Bear Regatta for Heat Sheet for race times.  Note: VASRA usually makes updates - check for final heat sheet Saturday morning. Recommend printing heat sheets and highlighting Woodson races and Final races in each category
  • Food Assignments - No Pre Regatta Dinner this week.  Regatta Athlete Food Tent (RAFT) donations need to be at the boathouse by 8am.  Donations for the Polar Bear Regatta RAFT may be dropped off at 3213 Amberley Ln, by Friday night. Leave in big white cooler or in plastic bin under the carport if we are not home. Text Heidi at 907-980-8833.
  • Remember, Sandy Run is a fantastic venue for rowing, but logistics and parking for crowds is a challenge.
    • "Silverbrook Shuttle" Info
      • Parking at Sandy Run is limited and expensive.  WTW Crew has paid for the team to be included in a shuttle service with 7 other teams. Park free at Silverbrook Elementary, 9350 Crosspointe Drive, Fairfax Station, VA 22039, and catch the shuttle (FCPS School Bus).
      • Round trip shuttle service usually begins 2 hours prior to Regatta start time and ends 1 hour after the last race. It is approximately a 15 minute bus ride from Silverbrook to Sandy Run. Traffic congestion causes delays.
      • We are waiting for an update from the shuttle coordinator.  In the past, the first shuttle bus departs Silverbrook around 7 A.M. A bus will run approximately every 15-20 minutes throughout the day. The bus drivers take lunch separately, we have at least one bus running during the lunch hour.  The plan is for a bus to depart each location every 15 minutes, on the quarter hour, many factors influence that precise schedule.
      • Returning from Sandy Run: PLEASE Confirm you are in the correct location for the "Silverbrook Shuttle".  Other schools and VASRA may use FCPS School Buses for shuttling to and from different parking lots. Please show courtesy to drivers, riders and volunteers.

    • Parking - VASRA Parking is limited, and fee in the past was $15 per car.  Remember, parking lots accommodate team buses, athletes, coaches, VASRA staff, and spectators - the lots closest to the Boathouse fill up quickly, after parking you may be shuttled to top parking.

    • Spectators:  To get to Grandstand from Parking Lot C

      • Walk takes approximately 30 minutes, it is a 3/4 mile, on mostly unpaved path, from Parking Lot C at Sandy Run to the Grandstand.

      • Van Shuttle from Lot C at Sandy Run Parking Lot to the Grandstand, $2 each way - van drops within 1/4 mile of Grandstand, that path is paved.

    • Allow a MINIMUM of one hour after parking to get to the Grandstand prior to race time.
