4.  US ROWING WAIVER - Action Required by all athletes (or legal guardian)! - Please complete this ASAP
  • All WTW Crew Athletes must complete or renew the US Rowing Waiver after 1 Jan of each year:
    • Go to: https://rosters.usrowing.org/waiver
    • Our club access code is DURXS
    • All athletes will be asked four safety questions.
      • Please answer the safety questions to the best of your ability. Your responses will not impact your ability to sign the waiver. These questions are for educational purposes only and give USRowing feedback on how our athletes understand safety within our sport
    • Athletes may be asked to watch a USADA anti-doping video and complete the USRowing anti-doping acknowledgement, if they indicate an interest in participating in a national team selection event.

    • The cost is $120 for the uni and the long sleeve tech shirt.  Make check payable to W.T.Woodson Crew Boosters. This is not included in the cost of membership.  Payment is due no later than, 11 Feb at the Parent Meeting.  Returning rowers may purchase a new uni ($75) or tech shirt ($45).  
    • A regatta (splash) jacket with our logo that can be ordered through JL Racing (view at https://www.jlracing.com/tab.4.html).  This is optional, it is not a part of the uniform.  The cost of this is $138.  Samples will be available on the 11th Parent Meeting. Jackets must be ordered and prepaid on the 11th.
    • White T-shirts:  each athlete receives a t-shirt with registration, athletes who registered after 17 Nov will receive a shirt with this next order.  If you would like to purchase additional shirts the cost is $12. Order and payment due at the Parent Meeting.
    • The CCI spirit wear website will be open online 11 Feb - 27 Feb, for delivery Mid March
    • The socks from the first order have arrived and will be distributed at practice or the parent meeting  
    • Magnets, window stickers and extra socks will be available for purchase at the parent meeting.  
    • Payment for uniforms, jackets and white t-shirts is due at the parent meeting 11 Feb, please remember your checkbook.

  • BUS PRICE SET:  We are pleased to announce that the bus price for the practice season has been set at $385.  It works out to less than $8 per day round trip on a commercial bus, providing parents with time savings, peace of mind of safe passage and team camaraderie.  Payment of the balance ($285 after the $100 deposit) is due no later than February 13.   You will have an opportunity to pay the balance due at the February 11 parent meeting - just look for the bus table before or after the meeting where Kelly and Jane will be ready to accept your payment.  Alternatively, you can mail your payment to:  WTW Crew Boosters, P.O. Box 2881, Fairfax, VA  22031.  Make your check payable to WTW Crew Boosters.  
  • FIRST DAY OF BUS SERVICE: The first day of bus service is Monday, February 23.  
  • RETURN TRIP OPTION - UPDATE:  As previously noted, we had been looking into an option for a return trip (after practice) bus stop at the shopping center on the corner of Ox Road and Braddock Road.  We are sorry to inform you that due to shopping center parking lot safety concerns, the bus will not be able to make that stop.   All parents will have to pick up their rider at the WTW parking lot.  Note that many parents form neighborhood carpools for bus pickup.
  • There are a few seats still available, on a first come, first served basis.  If you are interested, bring your $385 payment, made payable to WTW Crew Boosters, along with your signed (parent and student) bus registration form (attached) to the parent meeting on February 11.  Kelly Dobrydney, Crew Chaperone Coordinator, and Jane Ohashi, Bus Coordinator, will be there to register your rider for the bus.

  • The cards cost $20 and entitle the holder to ten, 1/2 price car washes at any Flagship location in Virginia -- Over a $100 value! 
  • Support the team and save yourself the hassle of washing all the salt and grit off your car this winter.

  • All paperwork and steps for Registration must be submitted to Membership by 20 Feb.  Ronin Registration closes 20 Feb and all athletes must be cleared to participate on the water Monday 23 Feb.  Please complete any outstanding steps as soon as possible.  


    • START DOCK CONSTRUCTION - Need Volunteers
      • Manpower is needed to help build a joint George Mason University, Occoquan Boat Club, Virginia Scholastic Rowing Association combined Start Platform/Launch Dock. These structures will be used by everyone who participates in regattas on the Occoquan. 
      • They primarily need people who like to build sturdy structures that float ! Shifts available every Saturday and Sunday from 2/21 - 3/15

    • COXSWAIN CLINIC - Lake Braddock Secondary School 10:00-4:0021 February
      • This is a VASRA Sponsored Clinic and there is no cost to participants.  Registration will be through Regatta Central and notification will be sent when registration is open.

    • New!  For Juniors:  TRIPLE-IMPACT COMPETITOR SCHOLARSHIP – open to any student-athlete who is currently a Junior (class of 2016), minimum GPA of 2.5, a resident of the United States, and is a participant in individual or team sports sponsored by the school or a local club.  A Triple-Impact Competitor has made contributions in the following three areas:  makes oneself better (personal mastery), makes teammates better (leadership) and makes the sport better (honoring the game). Scholarship amount awards are $1,000 to $2,000 depending on the location.  Applicants must submit testimonials from a school administrator or a coach, and at least one additional testimonial from an individual who is familiar with the applicant’s embodiment of the Triple-Impact Competitor principles.  For details and more information visit Family Connection or go to http://www.positivecoach.org/our-awards/triple-impact-competitor-scholarships/   Applications must be submitted online no later than 31 May.

    • For Seniors:  The Northern Virginia Athletic Directors, Administrators, and Coaches Association (NVADACA) announces its annual scholarship program.  Seniors in Virginia Northern Region High Schools who have participated in interscholastic sports as an athlete, team manager, athletic trainer or cheerleader are eligible to apply to receive one of the fifteen (15) scholarships. The application is available in the Career Center and at www.nvadaca.org.  Applications MUST be returned to the Career Center no later than Thursday, 19 February.  Ignore the deadline cited online.  WTW committees must have time to process applications to properly submit applications.
