1.  US Rowing Honor Roll Announced 
  • Thomas Holtslander, WTW Crew Captain, 4th year rower, and exceptional student-athlete, named to the USRowing Scholastic Honor Roll!
  • US Rowing Announced 2014-15 Scholastic Honor Roll - Forty-nine student athletes earned spots on the 2014-15 USRowing Scholastic Honor Roll, and another 36 student athletes earned honorable mention honor roll recognition. The USRowing Scholastic Honor Roll recognizes high school seniors who have excelled in both academics and rowing. In total, 164 student-athletes applied from 79 schools. Applicants must be USRowing members, have rowed or coxed at least one year, and successfully competed at or above the league or regional level.  
2.  VASRA Workday (one WTW Crew Volunteer Needed) - 25 October, 9am
  • Mandatory Workday (for all schools that row out of a boathouse on the Occoquan) on Saturday, October 25th at 9:00.
  • All schools that row out of a boathouse on the Occoquan must provide at least one volunteer to assist with dock demolition.  We would appreciate the services of anyone else who can spare the time!  Please bring work gloves and expect your clothes to get dirty.  Please bring tools (sawzalls, crowbars, hammers, etc) that are good for demolition.  Community Service vouchers will be signed for any students wishing to participate.

3.  Crew Experience Days -  October 20-25. M-F 4:30-6:30, Sat 9-11am
4.  Rental Erg Return - Saturday 25 October
  • Return all rental Ergs between 9-11am  at the Erg Shed 
5.  Craft Show - 7 & 8 November
  • Please send the following information about the craft show to 20 friends and/or family members in the area.  If you are a member of a club  (neighborhood club, book club, etc) or organization, again, we ask that you share this information with those friends. Thank you for your help in making this a profitable show for the WTW Crew Team.

You are invited to the 22nd Annual Holiday Happenings Craft Show on November 8 from 10am-4pm at WT Woodson High School (9525 Main St., Fairfax VA 22031).  This exceptional show features juried handmade arts and crafts. They offer a diverse selection that includes: fine arts, jewelry, fiber arts, wood, photography, pottery, giftware, pet accessories, stress relief items & hundreds of holiday collectibles/decorations. There will be approximately 100 exhibitors and admission is FREE for shoppers.

For your information, all vendor registration fees benefit the W.T. Woodson Crew Team which provides an excellent athletic experience to athletes.  W.T. Woodson Crew Team proudly represents the Fairfax region and brought several State Championships and a National Championship title to our area.  As a club sport, Crew is not supported by any school funds and is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.
If you have started holiday shopping this is the place to finish it or if you haven’t started, this s a great place to start!

6.  Request for launch drivers for Head of the Occoquan (HOTO) - November 1 & 2
  • The Occoquan Boat Club has requested launch drivers and launches for this coming weekend's Head of the Occoquan.  They are offering $200 per boat/driver combo for the weekend and $80 for a day.  OBC will pay for gas.  If you are a trained launch driver and volunteer you will receive credit for yourTag Day  Driver shift or one of their other volunteer service requirements.  This request is for launch drivers both Saturday and Sunday, Nov 1 and 2.  The same driver does not have to drive both days.  This is an all day event where you will probably only be marshaling along the 3.0 mile course.

    • Note:  Even current student athletes participating in other sports such as Cross Country or Volleyball must mail in all required forms (except VHSL Physical and Concussion Test)
