CCI Crew Sportswear Store is OPEN until 22 November

  • Please read the following information from Crew Sportswear Coordinator Tu'lann von Christierson:
    • The WT Woodson Crew Spirit Wear store is now open!!!!  You can shop in the convenience of your own home with your personal credit card.
    • Please be aware that you are not required to purchase spirit wear.
    • You will purchase the uniform separately - approximately $125.  Your rower will be measured for that order sometime in January.  I will require a check before I order the uniform.
    • The store will be open until Sunday, November 22nd.   The items will be delivered the week of December 7th.  So you will have the items before the winter break.  I have a few items at my house for sizing questions.  If you want to bring your rower, please email or call me and we can arrange a time for you to come by.
    • The Under Armour sweatshirt did run large last year. There are 2 new items, a rugby shirt and the blanket.  The crew gear bag is also a new style since the old one was discontinued.  It is a little larger.
    • Each rower receive a white t-shirt as a part of the registration fee.  It will say Woodson Crew and can be worn on spirit days and to WTW white outs!  It will be given to your rower after dues have been paid.  Shirts will be delivered after the winter break. (I will take an order for shirts, for rowers and parents who wish to purchase additional shirts, before we place the order.)
    • The “Splash” jacket that some of the rowers wear on the water is NOT part of this spirit wear order.  That jacket is made by the same company that makes the uniforms.  More information will follow on that later.
    • The following items can be personalized with your rowers information:  The bag and the soft shell jacket.  The cost of this embroidery is included in the cost of the item.   The jacket is usually embroidered on the arm with the rowers last name and graduation year.  You will be asked for that information when placing the order.  The bag is usually embroidered with the rowers first and last name and the graduation year.  You do not have to order the embroidery and you do not have to do what I suggest.  It is your choice, just ask your rower what they would like.
    • The socks may not arrive before Christmas.  The design is stitched in the sock and the process takes a little longer.

    • Athletes may attend 5 December - Junior Day is an opportunity for "Junior"  rowers (Note:  the term Juniors - refers to 9-12th graders, not just 11th graders) and parents to learn about relevant topics from knowledgeable speakers.
    • Registration Fee $50, Deadline 20 Nov.  Important note:  Junior athletes must be Championship members of USRowing to attend ($45 annual fee). Parents are allowed to attend with their child without becoming a Championship member of USRowing. Click here to become a Championship Member of USRowing. NOTE:  Championship Level is NOT required to be an organizational member and sign the waiver for WTW Crew, however, this basic membership level will not allow you to register for this event.  This is a great opportunity, depending on interest and approval, transportation may be coordinated - reply to this email if you have questions or are interested in attending.
9.  Northern Virginia Athletic Directors, Administrators & Coaches Association (NVADACA) Scholarships
  • Seniors in Virginia Northern Region High Schools who have participated in interscholastic sports as an athlete, team manager, athletic trainer or cheerleader are eligible to apply to receive one of several scholarships.  (Last year 20 scholarships of $3,000 were awarded)  Included in the awarded scholarships are three special scholarships recognizing: a physically challenged student, a student planning a career in elementary education, and a student with two letters in either baseball or softball.  Completed application packets include a listing of athletics and activities, a 500-word essay on one of three topics, a recommendation, and a transcript release form for an official seventh semester transcript.  A statement of financial need is required, but need is viewed very broadly.  Criteria for judging will include academic achievement, extent of involvement, contributions to the team(s), contributions to school, community, church, and work, writing skills, leadership, and financial need.
  • The application is available in Family Connection and at www.nvadaca.org.
  • Applications MUST be returned to the Career Center no later than Monday, 15 February 2016.  NOTE:  Remember the 3-week rule.  Ask for transcript and recommendation by or before 25 January 2016.
