Welcome back to school (tomorrow) and to the 2018-2019 season!
1. NEW: Welcome Coach Mickey. We are pleased to announce the addition of a new coach to the W.T. Woodson Crew family. Coach Kris Mickey joins us as a varsity women’s assistant coach. She is a Fairfax County native and a W.T Woodson High School alumni. She started her rowing career at W.T. Woodson, where she was a two time VASRA and SRAA gold medalist. Coach Mickey went on to row four years at Mercyhurst University. In 2002 Coach Mickey came back to W.T. Woodson as coach of the varsity men’s team. After taking time off to focus on her family, she returned to coach the Fairfax High School varsity men’s team, and for the last two years has been a varsity women’s assistant coach at Robinson Secondary School.

Coach Mickey is a 3rd grade AAP teacher at Oak View Elementary School. She has been teaching for 20 years, 17 of them in Fairfax County schools. In the high school off season Coach Mickey coaches for Resilient Rowing Club. Her full bio is posted on the wtwcrew.org website. Please join us in welcoming Coach Mickey “home” to W.T Woodson Crew.

2. REMINDER: We all love W.T. Woodson Crew! Let’s grow our team together. Share the enthusiasm for your team by taking every opportunity to speak to other students and encouraging them to join the team. They can attend Green Days (dates below) to give us a try. Parents, you know other folks that are looking for a great experience for their student-athlete as well. Please use your networking channels (other teams, PTSO, volunteer connections, work, other coaches, places of worship, community centers or swimming pools) to promote our team. We will have a table at Back to School Night on Sept. 6th so all parents with questions can stop by for a visit there.
