1. REMINDER: Spring Break Practice Starts Today. Here is the current schedule (if any coach calls for a dawn row, they will let the student-athletes know):

Monday-Thursday, April 15th - 18th 8:30-10:30am and 12:00-2:00pm
Friday, April 19th 8-11am (scrimmage, no spectators)

As a reminder, there is no bus service during Spring Break. You can use the #carpool channel in Slack to coordinate rides with other parents.

2. NEW: Darrell Winslow Regatta Summary. It was another rather large regatta with 34 clubs and 242 boats entered. We had 9 boats racing. The day started a bit wet and cool, but quickly turned out to be a beautiful day. It was another amazing day for Woodson with many 1st and 2nd finishes.

The Men’s 1st 4 (M-1-4) pulled a 5:36.8 placing 1st in their qualifying heat and placing 1st in the finals with a 5:27.8, 10 seconds ahead of the next boat. Great row and congratulations to Nick S., Ethan F., Ethan Pe., Richie E., and Sage B. (cox).

The Women’s Lightweight 8 (W-LT-8) pulled a 5:21.7 to place 1st in their final. Great row and congratulations to Marie K., Joy K., Mya R., MacKenna W., Gail S., Caroline R., Jill M., Katlyn H., and Leila B. (cox).

The Women’s Junior 8 (W-JR-8) pulled a 5:25.4 placing 1st in their heat, 20 seconds ahead of the rest of the field in both heats. They then placed 1st in the finals with a 5:21.6. Great row and congratulations to Abby P., Celia M, Rory B., Sarina P., Isabelle K., Annika M., Leah B., Kira M., and Maddy C. (cox).

The Men’s 2nd 4 (M-2-4) pulled a 5:47 placing 2nd in their qualifying heat and placing 2nd in the finals with a 5:52.3. Congratulations to Heston M., Aaron A., Zach M., Andrew C., and Ethan Ph. (cox).

The Women’s Lightweight 4 (W-LT-4) pulled a 6:44.1 placing 2nd in their final. Congratulations to Natalie M., Julia H., Katy H., Kaitlyn R., and Sophie D-G. (cox).

The Men’s Junior 8 (M-JR-8) pulled a 5:01.9 placing 1st in their heat and placing 2nd in the finals with a 5:01.1. Congratulations to Reid R., Glen S., Beau S., Joseph B., Brayden S., Mason P., Owen H., Avery H., and Ethan Ph. (cox).

The Men’s Novice 8 (M-N-8) pulled a 5:25.8 placing 1st in their flight and 6th across all M-N-8 flights of 16 boats total. Congratulations to Rohan M., Phillip J., Joseph P., Joseph S., John R., Brian T., Lance U., Dean G., and Kaleb G. (cox).

The Women’s Novice 8 (W-N-8) pulled a 5:57.6 placing 1st in their flight and 5th across all W-N-8 flights of 13 boats total. Congratulations to Vera B., Alicen M., Grace L., Sophia W., Afton S., Malia W., Emily C., Anna A., and Aria M. (cox).

The Men’s Freshman 8 (M-FR-8) pulled a 5:46.5 placing 5th in their flight. The members of this boat were James M., Phillip J., Rohan M., Joseph S., Jacob N., Joshua P., Louis L.R., Perry R., and Justin Y. (cox).

We congratulate all the WTW rowers and coxswains who participated in Saturday’s regatta and look forward to a great Spring Break of rowing.

3. NEW: Stotesbury Registration Information. The coaches will soon notify those students who will be going to Stotesbury, if they haven’t notified them already. Forms and payments are due no later than May 4th. You can find all the information you need here. This includes dropping off or sending the completed forms:
  • Parent Permission Form;
  • Emergency Contact Form (if not already submitted or you need to provide an update);
  • Luggage Form;
  • Student Code of Conduct;
  • Medication Form; and
  • $385 check made payable to WTW Crew Boosters and mailed or dropped off to Lesley Kowalski at 8306 Chapel Lake Rd, Annandale, VA 22003. You may also pay via PayPal. If you use PayPal, please note on your paperwork (which must still be dropped off or sent in) that you paid through PayPal.
  • Also, if parents and family members are attending and would like to eat with the student-athletes, please fill out this form and send appropriate payment for these meals separate from the payment for the student-athlete fee of $385.
Packets and payments can also be turned in at the start of the Pasta Dinners Friday, April 26 and May 4. Thank you to those who have already submitted their forms and payments.

4. REMINDER: Rummage Sale on April 28th 8-2pm. Shifts available for any parent and/ or rower either needing volunteer hours or just enjoying setting up a yard sale! If you are donating and haven’t already, please sign up for drop off. We also need some supplies (folding tables, clothing racks, hangers, bags, poster board, water, bagels) and some advertising help. All shifts will be at the Sandino's home, 8600 Canterbury Drive Annandale.

What sells: baby clothes and gear, athletic equipment, tools, children’s clothing, kitchenware, furniture, kids toys, jewelry, gardening supplies...
What doesn’t sell: stained clothing, broken toys, mattresses, swimsuits.
Please bring only clean, re-sellable items! When you sign-up, please give us an idea of what treasures you are contributing.

5. UPDATE: Volunteer Opportunities Available. Thank you again to the student-athletes and parents who have signed up to help in various roles so far! We do still have some volunteer opportunities available. Here are the sign-up genius links for the Halley ES Shuttle (new), RAFT, and VASRA (especially need boat drivers). Those signed up to volunteer for any of the above this weekend should receive reminders, but we recommend that you check the sign-up links above to ensure you know what volunteer opportunities you signed up for and that you are there on time. IMPORTANT REMINDER: If you are not able to fulfill your volunteer obligation, please don’t just remove your name from the sign-up genius, but please also notify our volunteer coordinator at wtwcrewvolunteer@gmail.com so we can ensure we fill the vacant slot and avoid being fined if it is a VASRA slot.

6. NEW: Team Photos Update. It turns out that individual pictures were not taken of all student-athletes. If you paid for a package with individual photos and you don’t receive them, you can use this site to contact Lifetouch Sports. Their phone contact information is on that page as well.
