1. REMINDER: Winter conditioning shirt sale ends TODAY! If rowers/coxswains met the requirements to receive the shirt for free, a captain should have contacted you (the rower/coxswain). If you are unsure please contact a captain. If not, you can purchase a shirt through the link/order form below. Shirts will be tie-dyed and distributed as soon as we receive them. The order form closes TODAY, Monday, March 12th, so place your order now!

2. REMINDER: Parent Meeting on Away Regattas is this Thursday, March 15th, from 7-9pm in WTW Cafeteria B. We will provide important information regarding Away Regattas and when you arrive we will provide you with your volunteer requirements credit status. Our first away regatta, St. Andrews, is less than three (3) weeks away on March 31st.

3. NEW: Volunteer Opportunities. Thank you to the student-athletes and parents who have signed up to help in various roles so far! If you still haven’t satisfied your volunteer requirements, (especially your VASRA requirements) NOW is the time to sign up!

We are still in need of an Away Regatta Food Coordinator. The person who fills this position will receive two (2) VASRA and two (2) regular volunteer credits for doing this. We are also looking for a Fundraising Committee Chair to begin to plan for next year. The person who fills this position will receive two (2) VASRA and three (3) regular volunteer credits. If you are interested in either of these positions, please contact Brian Boyle at wtw.crew.president@gmail.com.

Below we have links for Dinner Chaperones, RAFT helpers, and VASRA opportunities.

Pre-Regatta Dinners. The WTW Crew Team enjoys pre-regatta dinners each Friday night during the season. Host homes provide the disposable paper products (strong plates, forks, knives, etc.. no cups needed), serving utensils, and trash receptacles (1 per room recommended). Chaperones help with set-up, clean-up, and oversight. This is a working event for the volunteers. Credit: Host homes - 2 volunteer credits, Chaperones - 1 volunteer credit. Please sign-up here.

Rower Athlete Food Tent (RAFT). We need YOU (parent volunteers) to keep the "RAFT" afloat! The purpose of the RAFT is to provide the athletes with fresh, healthy, consistent fuel on race days. Food choices have been coordinated with the coaches and athletes, and are intended to serve most of the team. Food and supplies are donated by parents and assigned weekly for either the Friday night Pre-Regatta dinner or the food tent, and collected at the Pre-Regatta dinner. The food is available for athletes and coaches at no additional cost.
We need two parent volunteers per shift to set-up, maintain (replenish food and drinks), and close-down the food tent when the regatta ends. (These shifts count towards your WTW Crew volunteer commitment but NOT towards your VASRA requirements.) As with all Regatta jobs, you WILL be outdoors; dress for the weather! Please sign-up here.

VASRA Volunteer Positions. We have a Sign-up Genius for VASRA Workday slots before and after regatta season. There are positions still available for those who have not signed up for VASRA volunteer requirements. You can also Sign-up here for a remaining launch driver VASRA Volunteer job that we must fill. Those who have attended (or will attend this Saturday) launch driver training are encouraged to sign-up for the launch driver volunteer positions. Each WTW Crew family has a requirement to fulfill at least two VASRA volunteer jobs during the season (unless already filling a LOC position like the Dockmasters). If you have questions about the job responsibilities, there are descriptions on the WTW Crew website.

4. REMINDER: Sandy Run Regional Park Orientation/Tour. Please join our esteemed WTW Crew Booster President Brian Boyle for an orientation meeting on Saturday, March 17th from 9:30-11am. The tour will include:
  • where to park on Regatta days
  • an orientation to the boat house, launch, and recovery docks
  • a hike to the reviewing stand
Wear comfortable walking shoes and prepare for the weather! Please sign-up here.

5. REMINDER: PRACTICE BUS. If you missed Bus Registration, you haven't missed the bus! We will continue to take bus registrations with pro-rated costs and will now also offer single-day rides for $20 per day as long as the student-athlete has a daily bus rider agreement form signed by a parent. If the carpool coordination is too inconvenient, too unreliable or just too much, consider signing up for the super convenient and reliable daily practice bus. To register, contact Jami Shawley at wtwcrewactivities@gmail.com.

6. REMINDER: Self-coordinating Carpool Sign-up. We have created a sign-up genius for those interested in self-coordinating Friday and Saturday carpools.
