Good evening and thank you to all who made the annual Craft Show such a huge success!! Special thanks to Lesley K. for leading all our efforts, Julie M. for working with the vendors and coordinating a fabulous variety of wares, Cindy's work on the raffle items with Mary Claire’s extremely sought after set of tickets along with vendor donations made the raffle table yield lots of interest. The crew team bakers did a fantastic job with those donations reaching almost $1,000! Mary M.'s graphic art work on every sign, ad, etc., really helped spread the word with flair. The volunteers who worked tirelessly on Friday night getting the school ready were terrific! So many wonderful event day helpers of which we can't name them all, but some special shout outs to helpers like Janice and Rick H., Eleanor C., Kim S., and Joe H.. A huge thank you to our student-athletes which is the part of the show our vendors appreciate most! The student-athletes did a great job bringing in the vendors in the morning, helping advertise the show all day standing on Little River Turnpike, and getting the vendors out quickly and safely at the end of the day. Woodson should be very proud of this group of student-athletes!

Lesley has a lot of extension cords to return to various crew families who were kind enough to lend them out for the Craft Show. Lesley will be at the high school this Wednesday Nov 7th for the Crew Board meeting from 7-9pm. She will leave the extension cords at the door of the meeting room, C-123 (outside the gym) and would appreciate if you are able to stop by to collect yours. Otherwise, you can contact Lesley at lesleytkowalski@gmail.com and arrange to stop by her house Saturday between 8am - 1pm. Also, if you have Craft Show yard signs, please take them down and either bring them back to a board member or hang on to them for next year and we will just change the date.

1. REMINDER: DON’T WAIT. ONLY TEN DAYS LEFT TO REGISTER! Go to our website and select the “Register” button. Steps 1-5 must be completed no later than November 16th to participate in Winter Conditioning. All steps for registration must be complete no later than February 16th to participate in on-the-water activities. You may review the Parent Season Kick-off presentation for details regarding the nine (9) steps to registration.

2. REMINDER: Boathouse Workday on Nov 10th. We will hold our 2nd Boathouse Workday to ensure the boathouse and equipment are ready for the winter. Thank you to all the parents who signed up. We are still looking for student-athlete volunteers to help between 9am-noon on Saturday, November 10th. Please sign-up here.

3. NEW: Fundraiser at Potbelly in downtown Fairfax City (3955 Chain Bridge Road) 5-7pm on Nov 14th. The attached flyer needs to be presented in paper or electronic form (on your mobile phone) at the time of purchase for the team to receive 25% of the purchase.

4. REMINDER: Tag Days. WTW Crew’s largest annual fundraiser is Tag Days. Tag Days are when pairs of rowers/coxswains go door-to-door to spread the word about WTW Crew and accept donations from generous homeowners. On several designated dates, groups of four student-athletes are driven to their pre-mapped route by parent volunteers. This is also the only fundraiser that all athletes and parents are required to support. (athletes - 4 shifts for returning, 3 shifts for novice; parents - 1 driving shift per athlete on the team)

Sign-up genius now available

We encourage you to plan ahead to fit Tag Days into your schedule.

Dates: Saturdays November 17, December 1 (AM Only), December 8, 2018 and January 12 (AM Only), January 26, and February 2 (AM Only), 2019.

5. NEW: #GivingTuesday. We are excited to share that for the first time our team will be participating in a fundraising campaign for #GivingTuesday on November 27th this year.

#GivingTuesday is a global giving movement that has been built by individuals, families, organizations, businesses and communities in countries around the world. Millions of people have come together to support and champion the causes they believe in and the communities in which they live. You can learn more at givingtuesday.org.

You can find the campaign donation site here. If you have extended family that you think would like to support the team or if your employer provides corporate donations, please make them aware of the campaign.
