Practice Bus Registration

Today (Friday) is the last day of Winter Conditioning until January 2nd. We will not send out a weekly email next Monday, but will send one later next week. We hope everyone enjoys their holiday break.

Transportation to practice is the responsibility of the student-athlete’s family, however the W.T. Woodson Crew Boosters assist in this endeavor by contracting a commercial bus as an alternative. The fee for bus transportation between W.T. Woodson High School and Sandy Run Regional Park is in addition to regular dues. Registrations are accepted on a first-come, first served basis. Order of registration is based on date of payment. Registrations are secured by the payment in full, due no later than January 19, 2019.

The practice bus fee per crew member is $500 for the 2018-2019 season. We recognize that this is not an inexpensive service, but consider your time savings and the peace of mind of safe passage and team camaraderie. After full payment for an athlete is received, there will be no refunds unless the bus is cancelled for the season. If during the season you decide you no longer want bus transportation for your student, you must find your own rider replacement and arrange reimbursement with them. (We will assist where we can) We will maintain a waitlist of athletes desiring to join the bus riding program, should an athlete drop from the bus.

Please make your check for $500 payable to WTW Crew Boosters and mail it (or drop off) to the WTW Crew Booster Vice-President by the January 19th deadline. Payment by PayPal is also an option for the 2018-2019 season. For those paying by PayPal, the Bus Transportation Agreement can be scanned and sent via email to wtwcrewactivities@gmail.com. Please use subject line BUS PAYMENT COMPLETE for (Athlete first and last name).

Bus Schedule Details:
  • The first day of bus service is Tuesday, February 19 and last is Wednesday, May 15 
  • Standard Weekday Practice: 
    • The bus will depart from WTW Parking Lot off Whitacre Rd, no later than 3:30pm, and will return to same location at WTW, approximately 7:00pm.
    • NOTE: Sandy Run Regional Park rules require everyone to be off the water by sunset and out of the park 30 minutes after, so prior to daylight saving time (10 March), student-athletes may finish slightly earlier than 6:30pm and the bus may arrive back at Woodson slightly earlier than 7:00pm. 
  • NOTE: Bus Service is NOT Provided:
    • During Spring Break practice
    • On the following Fridays April 12 or 26, May 3 or 10 or ANY Saturday
    • Carpool options can be requested on the appropriate Slack channel (details are forthcoming) for anyone who is looking to carpool to and from practices on Non-Bus days. Please sign up if you are willing to drive other student-athletes or if you need assistance in driving your student-athlete to and from practice. This is a way to get families connected, who are interested in carpooling. It does not ensure rides. 
  • Every rider’s parents/guardians must sign-up to chaperone ONE day per each athlete
  • A $50 fine will be imposed for each missed chaperone commitment
  • Chaperones are responsible for arriving on time and checking in rowers as they board the bus and maintaining order on the bus during the trip 
  • Sign Up for ONE slot per athlete BEFORE February 19; and please fill the days prior to Spring Break before signing up for any of the slots after Spring Break. After initial sign ups we will reach out to parents to fill-in as needed. 
  • If you cannot meet this obligation, you must find a parent to take your place, and notify the Chaperone Coordinator
  • Without a chaperone, the bus will not depart the school
