Fall Green Days, Parent Season Kick-Off, Craft Show Volunteers, NCAA Workshop, Other Key Dates

1. REMINDER: Fall Green Days continue in October! If you haven’t already, click here to learn more about Green Days. Don’t forget to sign-up on the Sign-Up Genius for each day you will be attending a Green Day and annotate if you are a rower or a coxswain. Come out, meet your teammates, get on-the-water and have fun! There is no minimum sign-up requirement; you may participate in any days that fit into your schedule.
  • October: 2, 4, 9, 11: 4:30-6:30pm 
  • October 6 & 13 Saturdays from 8-10am

Returning Rowers/ Coxswains need a VHSL physical dated after May 1, 2018. Turn into WTW Athletic Trainer, Rm. C158- Allow up to five (5) business days for processing.

Novice Rowers/ Coxswains need to complete the following:
  1. VHSL Physical Form
  2. Emergency Care Form
  3. Swim Test 
  4. Sign-up to attend Green Days on Sign-Up Genius
  5. Sign the USRowing Waiver (we will provide this to you once you sign-up on the Sign-Up Genius site) 
There is no shuttle bus; therefore your own transportation is required to and from all Green Day practices. See the link below for coordinating carpools. All sessions are at Sandy Run Regional Park (10450 Van Thompson Road, Fairfax Station, VA).

REMINDER: Here is a Sign-Up Genius for Carpooling down to Sandy Run Regional Park. This is a way to connect families who are interested in carpooling. It does not ensure rides.

2. REMINDER: Parent Season Kick-off Meeting is October 11th from 7-9pm in WTW HS Cafeteria B. This is for parents of both new and returning rowers/coxswains. We have made changes to the registration process and will share a lot of information about the season so please plan to join us.

3. REMINDER: Craft Show Volunteer Sign-Up Genius is available for student-athletes and parents to sign up for volunteer opportunities. Since this is one of our main fundraising events, we encourage all student-athletes and as many parents as possible to participate.

4. REMINDER: NCAA Workshop at College Night. If you are thinking of rowing in college, you may wish to attend this workshop. At FCPS College Night on October 15th, there will be an NCAA Workshop that will provide valuable information those looking to participate in college athletics. College Night is 7 - 9pm at Hayfield Secondary School. More information here.

5. REMINDER: Other Key Dates:
  • October 3 - WTW Crew Booster Board Meeting, WTW HS Room C-123, 7-9pm 
  • October 6 - SAT & Homecoming Dance 
  • October 8 - Holiday 
  • October 10 - PSAT & 2 hour early release from school

  • November 5 & 6 - Student Holiday
