1. REMINDER: WTW Crew Craft Show Volunteers Still Needed! We still need volunteers to fill open spots and donate lots more baked goods to make our bake sale a success. The vendors love the continental breakfast we offer them so the muffins and bagels requested are important too! You can learn more about the craft show here and sign up now to volunteer. The Craft Show is one of our most important fundraising opportunities and a great chance for parents and athletes to get volunteer credit. Rowers, we still need sign-holders!

We also need some specific items:

  • Please bring in leftover Halloween candy on Friday night or Saturday morning of the craft show to help us incentivize our volunteers

  • We have some amazing baskets created this year, but we need a few more items to make them pop:

    • Have some Washington sports team insignia items? We’re looking to round out a big "SPORTS/ WASHINGTON FAN" basket.

    • Any creative ideas for a  for a “RAINY DAY” basket? Think playing cards, a Netflix free trial or anything else that someone might like to do on a rainy day.

    • We could use some snacks for the “FAMILY TRAVEL” basket, as well as balloons, candles, maybe a cake plate for the “BIRTHDAY PARTY” basket.

    • Last, our “PETS” basket could use anything pet-related (dog treats? catnip? collar? toy?)

All items need to be dropped off at Kim Sandino's house, 8600 Canterbury Drive, Annandale, by noon on Thursday. Look for the big spider in the yard, and leave any donated items on the front porch or in the carporch.

Another way to help us have a great craft show is by sharing the event with your friends on Facebook. Use the graphic below or click here to see a post about the Craft Show on Facebook and then click Share to post it to your own timeline.

If you have questions about this process, please contact the W.T. Woodson Crew Membership team at wtwcrewmembership@gmail.com.

3. REMINDER: Erg Rental Return: If you rented an erg at the end of last season to keep in shape over the summer, it’s time to bring them back so we can kick off winter conditioning next month. Please plan to return rented ergs between 9 and 11 on the Craft Show Day, November 2, then head over to the Craft Show and check it out. We need a few rowers to help us at this time getting the ergs set for winter conditioning. Sign up here to help out our logistics and equipment team.

4. SAVE THE DATE: Fall Boathouse Workday: Now that Green Days have concluded, we’ll need to clean and lock down the boathouse and launches for the winter. We need rowers and some parents to volunteer to make sure we’re prepared for a great start when we’re back on the water in February. The fall boathouse workday will be from 9 to noon on November 16th. Sign up here to volunteer.

5. NEW: Tag Days Sign-Up: This door-to-door fundraising outreach spreads the word about Woodson Crew, helps the athletes bond and provides valuable funds to support our team. All athletes are required to participate in some part of Tag Days. We will soon be opening sign-ups to participate and to seek parent hosts for each Tag Day. Parent hosts also receive volunteer credit so this is a great way to fulfill those hours.  If you are interested in hosting a Tag Day at your home, please contact Susan Burger at wtwcrewvolunteer@gmail.com  Please sign up now to participate in Tag Days. They happen Saturdays throughout the winter: November 16 and 23, December 7, January 11 and 25, and February 1 and 8.

6. REMINDER: Woodson Crew Fundraising at A.C. Moore AND Flippin’ Pizza: Help the Crew Team by shopping at A.C. Moore or eating pizza — or both! November 8, bring this flyer with you to A.C. Moore all day and Woodson Crew receives a donation from your purchase. And the next day, November 9, head over to Flippin’ Pizza with this flyer (and mention it on the phone if ordering ahead) and the team benefits as well.

7. SAVE THE DATE: Winter Conditioning: Now that registration is open, athletes can focus on winter conditioning between now and when we can get back on the water in February. Athletes will work out at the school through the fall and winter beginning November 21st for returning rowers, and December 2nd for new rowers.

8. REMINDER: Uniform Update: If you ordered a uniform or tech shirt last season from our old vendor, JL Racing, please get in touch with WTW Crew sportswear chair Monica Perry at wtwcrewsportswear@gmail.com to coordinate picking it up. As we mentioned last week, we’ve changed vendors and will be updating the uniforms for the women’s team this year. These new uniforms and all uniforms for men’s team members will be available in the online store in the spring.
