1. Thank you to those that signed up for our various vacant board positions. We could not do this without parent support and participation. Thank you also to all of those who participated in the Boathouse Workday on Saturday. We were able to inventory all of the equipment at Sandy Run, clean and organize our space, put in seven launches with motors, and rig several shells.

2. On-the-Water Practice begins tomorrow (Tuesday)!

Here is the planned schedule:
Standard Weekday Practice: 4:00-6:30pm
Bus departs Woodson at 3:30pm; arrives at Sandy Run at 4:00pm; departs Sandy Run at 6:30pm; and arrives at Woodson at 7:00pm. (NOTE: Sandy Run Park rules require everyone to be off the water by sunset and out of the park 30 minutes after, so prior to daylight savings time (12 March), student-athletes may finish slightly earlier than 6:30pm and the bus may arrive back at Woodson slightly earlier than 7:00pm)

Saturday Practices: 8:30-11:00am

Fridays during Regatta Weeks (which begin the week of 24 March):
Practice 4:00-5:30pm
Bus departs Woodson at 3:30pm; arrives at Sandy Run at 4:00pm; departs Sandy Run at 5:30pm; and arrives at Woodson at 6:00pm.
Team Regatta Dinners: 7:00-9:00pm

Spring Break:

11-14 April practice: 8:30-11:30am and 12:30-2:15pm
Bus departs Woodson at 8:00am and returns to Woodson at 2:45pm
Saturday, normal practice times listed above
17 April practice: 9:00-12:00pm
Bus departs Woodson at 8:30am and returns to Woodson at 12:30pm

The bus is not available on the following days so student-athletes will need to carpool.
23, 24, 29 March; 5 May and 12 May

3. URGENT NEED: In order for WTW Crew Boosters to provide bus transportation to practices, each trip to and from the river must have a parent chaperone. Every bus rider family must chaperone at least one time per rower. If you have a student-athlete riding the bus, please sign-up here: Practice Bus Sign-Up. Genie Heimbigner has graciously stepped up to be the practice bus coordinator. Please see Practice Bus Chaperone Duties for details and contact information. Bus rider roster to be sent directly to parents of rowers riding the bus.

4. The CCI Woodson Spirit Wear site is open until midnight on 6 March. We are hoping for delivery before the Polar Bear Regatta. There is a new white ‘Hey Woodson’ t-shirt being offered and this is the only way to purchase this shirt. Unfortunately the Under Armour hoodie and pants are not currently available for purchase because the company has discontinued that style and a new one will be offered in the fall. The uniforms and splash jackets ordered from JL Racing has not arrived yet. They will be delivered to rowers at the river as soon as they arrive. If you have NOT ordered a new uni, please contact Tu’lann von Christierson immediately at tulannvonc@cox.net.

5. NEW: Launch Boat Driver Training is on 4 March from 10:00am to noon at Sandy Run Park. Please sign-up here: Launch Boat Driver Training.

6. Our parent social is on Friday, 10 March at 7:30-10:00pm. Stacey & Adam Bromberg are hosting at 9205 Hamilton Drive in Fairfax. It's a great opportunity to meet and connect with other Crew Parents and Coaches. Adults only. BYOB! We are asking parents to help with a few items needed for the evening, so please sign-up and join us for a fun evening.

7. The 9th Seat Coxswain Clinic series is bringing a new 2-day clinic format to Washington DC at Georgetown University 25-26 February. Mary Whipple along with special guest, Zach Vlahos will be teaching you everything they learned in the coxswain seat from their years on the National Team and at the London Olympics. The 2-day format will include three workshops that will bring an interactive experience where coxswains will learn from their peers and from Mary and Zach. Pick and choose between the workshops or attend all three! Register through Regatta Central or for more information visit the 9th Seat Coxswain Clinic Series site.
