1. On Saturday, WTW Crew spent a rainy, chilly day competing with 1,800 other rowers & coxswains in the largest regatta to-date on the Occoquan, the Ted Phoenix. All of our boats except one qualified for finals, three boats won their event or their flight, and three others boats finished 2nd. Two Women’s boats advanced to their respective Grand Finals and finished 3rd -- despite having rowed together in those line-ups for only two days!

Men’s Second Varsity 8+ finished 2nd in their heat and 1st in the Grand Final! James Livingston, Larry Cai, Ryan Torgersen, Richard Evans, Grant McHale, Ethan Feng, Ethan Pepper, Katon Zhang, and Sebastian Bushey (coxswain).

Men’s Third Varsity 8+ finished 1st in their flight, by multiple boat lengths, and recorded the 2nd fastest time of all boats in their event! Brandon Snyder, Michael Yi, James Mullet, Rory McAlevy, Nick Shawley, Sam Muras, Gavin Bromberg, Thomas Koerner, Avery Whittle (coxswain).

Women’s Novice 8+ finished 1st in their flight, also by multiple boat lengths, and recording the 2nd fastest time of all 20 boats in their event! Jocelyn Phipps, Rachel Mailand, Nicole Curtis, Abigail Pesansky, Meng Li, Jensa Foley, Natalie Moran, Jules Heimbigner, and Evelyn Baltz (coxswain).

Men’s Novice 8+ finished 2nd in their flight, 2 seconds behind Oakton: Heston McClintick, Walter Kowalski, Joseph Bishop, William Mullet, Le Chen, Nicholas Ladino, Zachary Borja, Mason Phalan, and Samantha Ng (coxswain).

Women’s Lightweight 8+ finished 2nd: Sara Chan, Joy Kim, Marie Korn, Reagan Smith, Mya Rowe, Katlyn Howard, Sierra Boucher, Sophie Mills, and Haley Cole (coxswain).

Women’s Third Varsity 4+ finished 2nd: Olivia Nicholas, Kesem Solell-Knepler, Paige Evans, Sage Boucher, Carolyn Wong (coxswain).

Women’s First Varsity 4+ finished 2nd in their heat and 3rd in the Grand Final: Hannah Fisher, Claire Hutcheson, Jenna Hissong, Brooke Leech, and Erika Schneider (coxswain).

Women’s Second Varsity 4+ won their heat and finished 3rd in the Grand Final: Christina Moore, Gabriella Hayes, Rachel Hundley, Kristen Wahlbeck, Sophie Depret-Guillaume (coxswain).

Men’s First Varsity 8+ placed 3rd in their heat, less than 1.5 seconds off 1st.

Thank you again to all the parents who volunteered at the RAFT and in VASRA jobs.

2. Rowers, plan on attending the pre-regatta dinner this week (requires authentication *). Please see the link for the food assignments (requires authentication *) this week (Pre-Regatta Dinner and Al Urquia Regatta). Food/Drink assignments are 1 p/athlete (not p/family) and change weekly. We ask that all student-athletes participate and that items are brought as requested, we had several student-athletes last week who were not on the Chorus trip and did not bring their assigned food/drink items. Thank-you for your help.

3. The Stotesbury and Nationals Registration Packets will be included in this Thursday’s email. Stotesbury paperwork and payments are due May 5 and Nationals paperwork and payments are due May 16. Please email wtwcrewactivities@gmail.com with any questions.
