1. Membership Online Registration now open! Please make registering rowers a priority.
  • New Rower - $750 (Installments - $250 at Registration, $250 on Jan 13th and Feb 11th) 
  • Returning Rower - $850 (Installments - $290 at Registration, $280 on Jan 13 and Feb 11th) 
Early bird discounts of $50 per student-athlete are available if dues are paid in full by check no later than November 17th, 2016. No early bird discount is offered when paying by credit card. Discount will be provided via a refund check from the WTW Crew Boosters. It will NOT be reflected in your Ronin statement. An additional discount of $50 per student-athlete is given when a family has more than one participating student-athlete. Forms for NEW and RETURNING Rowers MUST be complete, and athletes must be cleared by the Athletic Trainer and on an eligibility list to participate in Winter Conditioning, no later than 17 Nov for Returning Rowers, 28 Nov for Freshman/Novice Rowers. (No later than 21 Feb if not participating in Winter Conditioning and joining before the Spring Racing Season)

2. SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITY! Julia Shew Memorial Rowing Scholarship: Application due 11 November.
The Occoquan Boat Club (OBC) is pleased to offer scholarships to athletes who need financial assistance to participate in their high school rowing club program. The 2016-17 application is now available online at: OBC Scholarship link
Please complete the forms and submit application to WTW.crew.president@gmail.com NLT 11 November. WTW Crew Boosters will submit completed forms to OBC for qualifying participants. All applications are kept in strictest confidence. 

3. Lots of opportunities to VOLUNTEER in November due to the limited number of weekends! Choose your fun for Saturday 12 Nov.

  • BOAT HOUSEWORK DAY: Sandy Run – Saturday, 12 Nov, 9-11am
    Parents and student volunteers are needed to help get the launches and motors out of the river, prep the boathouse for the winter, and update the inventory.

  • TAG DAYS Are Coming. The best way to meet your minimum fundraising commitment!
    Saturdays: 12 & 19 Nov; 3 &10 Dec; 7 & 21 Jan
Largest fundraiser for WTW Crew, brings in over $20,000 annually. We need parents and crew members support to continue the success of Tag Days this season! Each rower can earn $100 in fundraising credit per tag day shift up to a maximum of $300 in 3 shifts. Parents can earn $50 in tag day credit for either driving during tag day or hosting a tag day at their home. There are single shifts and double shifts available. Please read the Sign-up Genius information carefully as to which shift you are signing up for. We are also looking for Tag Day hosts. If a parent signs up to host Tag Day at their home, the Tag Day coordinator will contact the parent in advance to provide all of the forms and guidance to set them up for a successful day. 

Also - we are looking for a Tag Day Coordinator to step up and take on this position for the 2017 / 2018 season next year. If you are interested, the current Tag Day Coordinator, Mary Claire Boucher (mcboucher@verizon.net), will be happy to answer questions and show you the ropes. It is a rewarding way to support the team in the off season and contribute significantly to WTW Crew’s financial success. This option is also available on the Sign-up Genius.

5. WINTER CONDITIONING for returning varsity rowers on 18, 21, 22 Nov.
  • Friday 18 November - Girls and Boys 3:30 - 5:30pm 
  • Monday 21 November - Girls 3:30-5:15pm, Boys 4:45-6:30pm 
  • Tuesday 22 November - Boys 3:30-5:15pm, Girls 4:45-6:30pm 
Winter conditioning continues for ALL rowers 28 Nov. - 17 Feb.
  • Monday, Wednesday: Girls 3:30-5:15pm, Boys 4:45-6:30pm 
  • Tuesday, Thursday: Boys 3:30-5:15pm, Girls 4:45-6:30pm 
  • Friday: Girls & Boys 3:30-5:30pm 
6. WTW Crew Spirit Wear Site is now OPEN and will close at midnight on 20 Nov. Orders should be available for pick up after 9 Dec., just in time for the holidays. Items not picked up will be delivered to the rowers at winter conditioning AFTER the break in January. NONE of the items from CCI are required to be purchased. This is optional spirit wear. The jacket that is on this site is not a rowing jacket.

There are new items that have been added from previous years: a long sleeve t-shirt (various colors), a windbreaker, a fleece vest, a full-zip sweatshirt, and a waterproof blanket. The bag is also new and has a different look from last year. The company discontinued the old bag. The CCI screenprinting site takes VISA, Mastercard and Discover. If you are concerned about sizing, Tu’lann has some items that can be tried on.

The uniform and splash jackets are made by JL Racing and will be available at a later time. There will also be rowing attire available from the JL site. We will send that link when it becomes available. It will not be before the break.

7. Holiday Happenings Craft Show Thanks to ALL who volunteered or provided baked goods/supplies for Saturday’s event. We received a lot of really good feedback from the vendors, especially about how polite and helpful our rowers are. Another reason to be proud of them! *Extension Cords - if you loaned us one, please contact Joan Fisher or Laura Hundley to coordinate the return of your items. *Service Credits - If you worked the event and didn’t “sign-in” on the roster near the bake sale area, please contact Laura Hundley to ensure proper credit. *After Action Reporting - We’re planning a follow up meeting to document lessons learned as well as turnover information for next year. Anyone interested in attending please contact Laura Hundley, glindasmagic@gmail.com. We want to ensure things transition smoothly for volunteers that will be coordinating the 25th Annual Craft Show.
