We have a few updates for you and reminders before the first regatta of the season. CORRECTION: The pre-regatta dinner tomorrow (Friday) night is from 7-9pm. The times listed in this morning’s email were for chaperone arrival and departure times. NEW: Thank you to all of our parents who have signed up to volunteer at the pre-regatta dinner on Friday as well as the RAFT tent and VASRA jobs on Saturday. We couldn’t do this without you! NEW: Attendance for practice is mandatory but in the case of an appointment, please fill out this form to let team know of your absence. Get ready to Pull for Woodson….the first regatta of the season, the Polar Bear Regatta, is this Saturday. The coaches have or will give the students guidance on what time to arrive. Varsity students should wear their unis and bring their tech shirts along with whatever else they need for the day. Only varsity boats will be rowing, but all team members are expected to attend the pre-regatta pasta party on Friday night and the regatta on Saturday to help and cheer on their teammates. Don’t forget to bring your food assignment items to the pre-regatta dinner. See this week’s link for the food assignments for details. Food/Drink assignments are per athlete (not per family) and change weekly. We ask that all rowers participate and that items are brought to the pre-regatta dinner or regatta as requested. You can follow VASRA on Twitter @VASRAResults to get the latest on regatta and workday schedules and @VASRAParking for regatta parking updates (there is limited parking at Sandy Run and the fee is $15 per car). You can also follow Sandy Run Regional Park on Twitter at @SandyRunReg. Regatta Central has a page with Sandy Run Regatta Day FAQs. On that site, you can also see the heat times (click on heat sheet/draw tab) once populated. NEW: Access to the Regatta Grandstands: From the upper parking area at Sandy Run, a 0.6 mile walk along a somewhat hilly hiking trail is required to reach the Grandstands. A shuttle bus is available from the upper parking area for a nominal fee that will take you to the Grandstands, should you not wish to walk. WTW Crew parents usually sit in the upper right corner (as you face the grandstands) and we'll be wearing our WTW Crew spirit wear. Please join us. NOTE: We also welcome parents to stop by the RAFT tent near the lower boathouse, but the boathouse itself is reserved for athletes and coaches during regattas. NEW: Silverbrook Shuttle Details: All Sandy Run Regattas have shuttle bus service between Silverbrook ES and Sandy Run Regional Park where regattas take place. WTW Crew families are encouraged to park at Silverbrook Elementary School (ES) and use the free shuttle bus that runs between there and the river. Silverbrook ES: 9350 Crosspointe Drive, Fairfax Station, VA 22039 Sandy Run Regional Park: 10450 Van Thompson Rd, Fairfax Station, VA 22039
