Happy New Year and here is to an Amazing Crew Year!

1. REMINDER: Winter Conditioning starts back up on the normal schedule. If coaches have changes, they will notify the student-athletes. There are only 33 days of conditioning until we are back on the water. While winter conditioning remains optional, attendance is strongly encouraged. We return to the following schedule until February 16th:
  • Monday and Wednesdays: Girls 3:30-5:15pm, Boys 4:45-6:30pm
  • Tuesdays and Thursdays: Boys 3:30-5:15pm, Girls 4:45-6:30pm
  • Fridays: Girls and Boys 3:30 - 5:30pm
2. REMINDER: Spirit Wear Pick-Up. There is still crew spirit wear orders to be picked up. Rowers or family members may pick-up at the Korn’s house: 4036 Hadley Lane, Fairfax. Please text Babette at 703-568-3985 prior to picking up your spirit wear so she can ensure it is ready for you. Backordered items will be in soon and Babette will let you know when they arrive.

NOTE: JL Racing will open the store to order uniforms and splash jackets very soon and we will send an email with details as soon as they are available.

3. REMINDER: There are two more Tag Days in January. Sign-up for Tag Days! Our next Tag Day is this Saturday, January 6th. We are also working on one make-up Tag Day in early February and will provide more details when we have them. Returning rowers/coxswains are reminded that they are required to do four (4) Tag Day shifts this year and new rowers/coxswains are required to do three (3). If you did not do a Craft Show volunteer requirement, you can make it up by doing another Tag Day shift. If you don’t complete your Tag Day shifts, you will pay a financial penalty so please sign-up.

4. REMINDER: World Indoor Rowing Championships. An opportunity for our rowers (and their families) to participate in the World Indoor Rowing Championships! Usually held in Boston, this year TC Williams High School in Alexandria, VA is hosting it in place of the Mid–Atlantic Ergs on February 17th and 18th. Those that have participated in the Mid–Atlantic Ergs in the past know it is a tremendous, upbeat event that provides a great opportunity for our rowers. The World Indoor Rowing Championship this year promises to be even better. Go to Regatta Central Erg Sprints site to get all the details and register.

NOTE: Signing up for the championship can be confusing. If you have any questions, email the WTW Crew Booster President at wtw.crew.president@gmail.com and he will walk you through it. Your age category is your age as of 31 December 2018. Many seniors will have to participate in the 19-23 category.

5. NEW: We will hold our monthly board meeting this Wednesday, January 3rd from 7-9pm in room C-123 at WTW High School. All crew parents are welcome to attend.
