1. NEW: IMPORTANT REGATTA INFORMATION FOR SATURDAY! The forecast for this Saturday remains uncertain, the conditions will be challenging regardless of the possible precipitation amounts or type. Currently the regatta is still on.

Student-Athletes, listen to your coach regarding what to wear and when to arrive.

Here is information we received from VASRA:

In an effort to get as many rowers on the water as possible, at least once, VASRA has abandoned the block schedule and prioritized the varsity boats for this regatta. As a result of this change, all team members need to arrive at the beginning of the day. There will only be one: Coaches Meeting, 7:00am; Coxswains Meeting, 7:30am: and Weigh In Window, 7:00- 9:00am.

The Uniform Rule has been waived for this regatta. All rowers and coxswains MUST dress warmly. Crews failing to comply with this safety instruction will be held from launching. This is a safety matter and will be strictly enforced. A great deal of heat is lost through the head, beanies would be appropriate and this might be an opportune time for rowers to use pogies. Rowers and coxswains should also have multiple changes of clothing so they can keep dry and warm. There is no running water yet at the park, so student-athletes should continue to bring their own filled water bottles.

We highly recommend you park at Silverbrook (link to details under #5) and use the shuttle our school participates in rather than parking at Sandy Run Regional Park.

VASRA is still working on the details of the schedule so please watch for updates on Twitter at @VASRAResults and @WoodsonCrew and our website, wtwcrew.org.

2. REMINDER: Pre-Regatta Dinner Food Assignments for all families. Our next pre-regatta dinner is this Friday from 7-9pm at the McCarthy’s home (*requires authentication). Thank you to the McCarthy family for hosting and to the parents who have signed up to help. Here are the dinner and RAFT food assignments for all families (*requires authentication). Please bring the assigned food items to the pre-regatta dinner, even if your student-athlete is unable to attend the dinner. If an athlete’s last name falls between the names listed then that is their food assignment. NOTE: Please ensure food is delivered on time (at 7pm), practice will be done by 6pm to allow student-athletes time to return from the river and get to the dinner on time.
3. REMINDER: Volunteer Opportunities. Thank you to the student-athletes and parents who have signed up to help in various roles so far! All volunteer slots are currently filled, but please check these links occasionally if you still haven’t satisfied your volunteer requirements in case any become available.

Here are the sign-up genius links for the pre-regatta dinner, RAFT, and VASRA. Those signed up to volunteer for any of the above this weekend should receive reminders, but we recommend that you check the sign-up links above to ensure you know what volunteer opportunities you signed up for and that you are there on time. NOTE: It is recommended VASRA volunteers arrive at Silverbrook at least 45 minutes prior to their shift start time so they can take the bus to Sandy Run, sign-in at the VASRA sign-in desk, and be at their assigned volunteer duty by the start of their shift. Please also check sign-up genius for any shift time changes.

4. NEW: Spirit Wear from the second order will be distributed at practice on Monday.
