1. NEW: Ted Phoenix Regatta Summary. It was a beautiful day with the 8s racing in the morning.

The Men’s Second 8 (M-2-8) placed 2nd in their heat and advanced to the finals.

The Women’s Lightweight 8 (W-LT-8) racing in the Women’s Junior 8 event, and Women’s Junior 8 (W-JR-8) both advanced to the finals in an unusual event to race against each other. In the final, the W-LT-8 took first over B-CC, Madison, W-L and South County, and the W-JR-8 placed 5th over South County.

The Women’s Freshmen 8 (W-F-8) won their flight ahead of TJ, Oakton, and Langley.

The Men’s Novice 8 (M-N-8) took 3rd in their flight.

The Men’s Junior 4 (M-JR-4) was the last Woodson race of the day and they finished strong in 3rd place ahead of Fairfax, Madison, and Briar Woods.

Congratulations to all rowers and coxswains!

Here are all of the results for all of the races. Check out photos from the regatta on our new WTW Crew photo page. If anyone has any photos of the team they would like to share and that we could post on our site, please send them to wtwcrewphotographer@gmail.com.

2. NEW: Senior Night Information. The Senior Night is a tradition of all the underclassmen celebrating with their graduating seniors. This year’s Senior Night will be celebrated at the Team Dinner on May 11th. This is a student organized event (with parent support, assistance, guidance). Traditionally the juniors take the lead, as is the case this year. The optional contribution typically runs between $20-30 per underclassman. The number depends on the size of the senior class versus size of the underclasses. The money covers the cost of each underclassman’s own uniquely designed Senior Night T-shirt plus defrays the combined cost of a t-shirt per senior and a modest gift per senior. This year the girls came to a shared cost of $25 each and boys are about $33. Every athlete should already know about this and has probably come home asking for money to turn in to their designated representatives (Boys: Ethan Feng, Girls: Joy Kim). As always, if any cost is untenable for a family, they should feel free to come to a board member to discuss (you may contact Jami Shawley at wtwcrewactivities@gmail.com). The board is obviously bound to complete discretion in matters like this and will work with the coordinating athletes to manage the funds.

3. NEW: Pre-Regatta Dinner Food Assignments for all families. Our next pre-regatta dinner is this Friday from 7-9pm at the McClintick’s home (* requires authentication). Thank you to the McClintick family for hosting and to the parents who have signed up to help. Here are the dinner and RAFT food assignments (* requires authentication) for all families. Please bring the assigned food items to the pre-regatta dinner, even if your student-athlete is unable to attend the dinner. If an athlete’s last name falls between the names listed then that is their food assignment.

4. REMINDER: Stotesbury/SRAA forms and payments are due no later than May 4th. The payment information and forms are located on the wtwcrew.org main page under “2018 Away Regatta Meeting.” Packets and payments may be mailed or dropped off to Jami Shawley at 4105 Duncan Dr., Annandale, VA (just place in the mailbox). Packets and payments can also be turned in at the Pasta Dinner this Friday, April 27th. Thank you to those who have already submitted their forms and payments.

5. REMINDER: WTW Sports Physicals. The Woodson High School Athletic Training Department will be offering sports physicals at Woodson High School on Monday, May 7th.

This successfully completed physical will be good for all sports and out of season practices (green days, yellow days, weight room workouts) for the 2018-2019 school year.

This event is a fundraiser for the Woodson High School Athletic Training Department and goes to support the athletes at Woodson High School.

The cost of the physical is $50 when you register online.

6. REMINDER: 2018-2019 WTW Crew Booster Executive Board Nominations Requested. Unbelievably, the end of the 2017-2018 season is nearly upon us and we need to begin planning for the 2018-2019 WTW Crew season! At the end of the year, the WTW Crew Boosters (all parents of crew athletes) will vote to elect next year's executive board members (President, Vice President for Team Liaison and Activities, Vice President for Communications, Treasurer, and Secretary). For board position descriptions, please refer to the By-Laws. If you are interested in serving in any of these positions or if you'd like to nominate someone that you think would be great and willing, please contact the nominating committee (Dana Boucher, Amy Pepper, and Kim Sandino) at wtwcrewcommunications@gmail.com. If a committee members reaches out to you to discuss the possibility, please keep an open mind. It takes a whole village to make this awesome club run!

Huge thanks to all of the parent volunteers throughout the year - including board members and every other volunteer job. Your kids appreciate it - whether they realize it or not!

7. SAVE THE DATE: The End-of-Year Crew Party will be Monday, June 11th in WTW cafeterias A&B. More information will be forthcoming.
