We had an outstanding first week of practice on-the-water! It is apparent that our hard work during winter conditioning paid dividends allowing us to begin at a higher level of training/practice. We are all looking forward to a very successful and fun racing season.

Here is a link to some photos courtesy of Mary Claire Boucher from Saturday practice. Unfortunately due to the fog we were not able to get any pictures while out on the water.

A huge thank you from the team to Jean Boyle who stepped up and helped us get all our requirements done in time, including some late registrations, to permit us to all get on the water.

1. UPDATE: We would really like to purchase a new boat for the team and we rely on our fundraisers for this. Our last major fundraising event (Tag Day) of the year is this coming Saturday, March 3rd. We really could use all student-athlete hands-on deck.
It is also the last chance to get Tag Day volunteer credits for student-athletes and parents.

Make it a full day of Crew – practice on the water in the morning and participate in the final tag day that afternoon. If you’ve completed your yearly fundraising commitment and participate in this Tag Day, your name will be entered in a drawing to win a Chipotle gift card and/or a $50 VISA card. Additionally if one of your friends hasn’t been able to complete their fundraising requirement, you can work the shift for them. Just let us know who you are working for. As a reminder, rowers/coxswains who do not complete their fundraising requirement by the end of this last Tag Day, will receive a bill for $75 per missed requirement. (Fundraising requirements include Craft Show or Tag Day shifts. Returning rowers/coxswains have five (5) total fundraising requirements and Novice/ Freshmen have three (3) total fundraising requirements)

2. NEW: VASRA Volunteer Positions. Please Sign-up here for VASRA Volunteer jobs for WTW Crew Parents. We must fill these positions or the team gets fined.
We also have a Sign-up Genius for VASRA Workday slots before and after regatta season. These will also count for your VASRA volunteer requirements.

Each WTW Crew family has a requirement to fulfill at least two VASRA volunteer jobs during the season (unless already filling a LOC position like the Dockmasters). TIf you have questions about the job responsibilities, there are descriptions on the WTW Crew website.

3. REMINDER: Spirit Wear. The CCI store is OPEN to order Spirit Wear. If you missed the first time or if you want to order additional items, click here to access the store. The site is open until midnight on next Sunday, March 4th. Contact Babette Korn at babskorn@gmail.com if you have questions about Spirit Wear or Uniforms.

4. REMINDER: Sandy Run Regional Park Orientation/Tour. Please join our esteemed WTW Crew Booster President Brian Boyle for an orientation meeting on Saturday, March 17th from 9:30-11am. The tour will include:
where to park on Regatta days
an orientation to the boat house, launch, and recovery docks
a hike to the reviewing stand

5. NEW: Pasta Party Host Home Volunteers Needed: We are looking for a few individuals to host the 2018 Pasta Parties in their home. We need host homes for the following dates:
  • Friday, 23 March 2018 
  • Friday, 6 April 2018 
  • Friday, 20 April 2018 
  • Friday, 27 April 2018 
  • Friday, 4 May 2018 
  • Friday 11 May 2018 (SENIOR NIGHT) 
The host home does not provide any food, instead they provide plates, utensils, napkins, and serving utensils. Contact Kris at colechips@yahoo.com for information or to volunteer. Dates are first come, first serve. Each host will receive 2 volunteer credits!

6. UPDATE: PRACTICE BUS NEEDS A FEW MORE CHAPERONES. All bus rider families must provide a bus chaperone twice during the season. Thank you to all the parents who have signed up already. We currently do not have a chaperone signed up for the following dates (April 25, 26, May 9,16) No chaperone means no bus. So if you are available on those dates please sign up here.

As a reminder, there is no practice bus this Friday, March 2nd and is not available on Saturdays. Please make appropriate arrangements. The self-coordinating Carpool Sign-up is below as well.

If you missed Bus Registration, you haven't missed the bus! We will continue to take bus registrations with pro-rated costs. If the carpool coordination is too inconvenient, too unreliable or just too much, consider signing up for the super convenient and reliable daily practice bus. 7. REMINDER: Self-coordinating Carpool Sign-up. We have created a sign-up genius for those interested in self-coordinating Friday and Saturday carpools.

  • March 5th -- Team Photos after school and before practice 
  • March 7th -- Crew Board Meeting, 7-9pm in WTW room C-123. Parents/guardians are welcome to attend 
  • March 10th -- Parent Launch Boat Training, 10am-noon at Sandy Run Park 
  • March 15th -- Parent Meeting on Away Regattas, 7-9pm in WTW Cafeteria B 
  • March 17th -- Parent Orientation of Sandy Run Park and the Boathouse
