Dues & Volunteering


W.T. Woodson Crew is not financially supported by Fairfax County Public Schools. Our Booster Club works diligently to keep student cost to a minimum. Membership Dues and Fundraising cover team’s costs.
2019 - 2020 Season Dues

Basic Dues:
  • Returning Rower $925. (Installments: $315 at Registration, $305 on 18 January 2020 and 15 February 2020)

  • Freshman / Novice Rower $775. (Installments: $265 at Registration, $255 on 18 January 2020 and 15 February 2020) 

Payment Types:

 

Basic dues may be paid by credit card. Dues payment by credit card is managed through the Ronin Racing website (see the Registration tab). Payment for spirit wear and uniforms will be made directly to the respective vendors. Families with extenuating financial circumstances should contact the Association President to arrange a delayed payment schedule. In addition, limited scholarship funds may be available. All requests will be held in the strictest confidence.


Additional Fees:
  • Stotesbury Regatta ~$350
  • SRAA Nationals ~$425 if boat qualifies
  • Uniforms ~$125
  • St. Andrew's Invitational Regatta TBD
  • Chartered Practice Bus (optional) ~$500 (Monday through Friday)
  • Spring break bus - the price depends on participation; if bus is filled it will be ~$100
NOTE: Additional Fees are approximate based on historical and projected costs.

Penalties:
  • Returning student-athlete withdrawal request during first two weeks of on-the-water practice $300

Discounts and Payment Deadlines

 

Dues for the current season must be paid in full by 20 February 2020. Early bird discounts of $25 per student-athlete are available if dues are paid in full by credit card no later than the 20th of November 2019. An additional discount of $50 is given when a family has more than one participating student-athlete. Dues may be paid by credit card in three equal installments with payments due at registration, on 18 January 2020, and on 20 February 2020.



Refund Policy

Requests for refunds should be made in writing to the Membership Chairperson. Withdrawal requests made on behalf of returning student-athletes by 20 February 2020 and freshman/novice student-athletes by 6 March 2020 will be refunded in full, less any credit card processing fees. Withdrawals on behalf of returning student-athletes made during the first two weeks of on-the-water practice will be assessed a $300 penalty. No refunds of dues will be granted after the second week of on-the-water practice unless the student-athlete is cut (see Section 6 of the WTW Crew Handbook).

2019-2020 Volunteer Opportunities

W.T. Woodson (WTW) Crew is a volunteer-run organization. Student-athletes and their families are expected to contribute their time and talents through service in various capacities throughout the season. Volunteer opportunities include, but are not limited to, fundraising events, VASRA regatta volunteers, travel regatta support, maintaining and repairing equipment at boathouse workdays, and serving as members of the WTW Crew Boosters Association Board of Directors or in various committee leadership positions. See Appendix F of the handbook (and below) for a complete listing of service opportunities and associated credits.

Each Additional Family Returning Rower/Coxswain No additional tasks 6 total volunteer requirements. 4 must be Tag Day shifts, 1 Craft Fair, and 1 other

Bus Chaperone (Bus to the River) If sufficient interest, we may offer a daily shuttle bus to the river. If so participating families will be required to provide a chaperone (1 per day). Total number of chaperone duties will depend on number of day’s shuttle offered divided by number of riders.

These are additional family commitments.
 

NOTE: Student-Athletes will not be allowed to participate in end-of-season travel regattas until volunteer commitments are fulfilled and penalties are paid without specific consideration issued by the Board.
